NO KNOCKOUTS, NO INJURIES
These events are designed to grow and develop Muay Thai technique without the risk of injury. Therefore,
ANY STRIKE MAKING FULL CONTACT OR EVEN THE "PERCEPTION OR APPEARANCE" OF A FULL CONTACT STRIKE WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF THE FIGHTER!
"Playing" Muay Thai is the most effective way to increase fighter IQ.
If you spar too hard and get emotional, it inhibits your brain's ability to learn, and the reflexes do not become inherent.
Relax and have fun, and that will propel you to success.
Athletes must win by points: The judges will score each fighter with a '10 point must' system at the end of the bout
- There are no Knockouts and/or Technical Knockouts.
- HAND & FOOT STRIKES to the HEAD - SEMI CONTACT ONLY!
(Treat the bout as a sparring match; any strikes resembling full contact could result in a warning, NC, or DQ) - Any knockout will result in disqualification or a no contest.
(PMT referee and judges will determine the outcome) - If a fighter quits or can't defend themselves due to exhaustion, this will give a win to their opponent by default.
(The referee could notice the fighter is too tired to defend themselves and stop the match for safety) - A referee only needs one warning to athletes in order to stop the bout.
(Safety is a priority; if the referee is getting stressed, the match could be called) - Emotions should not influence contact.
(Grunting or yelping during the bout will not be allowed) - No kicks or punches in the back, spine area, groin, or knee joints.
- Please be respectful to your opponent and display good sportsmanship.
- NO KNEES TO THE HEAD
- NO ELBOWS
- NO JAMMING / PLOWING
(catching a kick and driving the opponent backwards) - NO TAKEDOWNS

(only trips/sweeps using the front of the foot/leg are allowed) - NO AXE KICKS
- Bouts are generally 2 rounds, with a 3rd round as an overtime round. The 3rd round will only happen if both athletes won a round.
- Rounds are 2 minutes for adults and 90 seconds for youngsters. The break between rounds is 1 minute.

A W is a Score + 1 and a L is for Learning!
L does not effect you negatively
Judging in Point Muay Thai is designed to encourage a variety of techniques to develop the athlete in the safest possible way
Athletes must have a solid foundation of defense
Point Muay Thai is a developmental sport. Receiving a W or L is not important. What matters is the amount of mat time
- Three judges score each bout
- Bouts will be judged on who lands the most strikes/points in the designated areas based on the judges' discretion
- Clickers can be used to tally points the judges feel each athlete scores
- Techniques in clinching and ring awareness can also score points
- Using a multitude of Muay Thai techniques such as knees, leg kicks, clinching, and sweeps can impress the judges and earn points
- Ultimately, the judge will decide which athlete has excelled well in the bout using the points as an aid to formulate a 10-9 score
- If the athletes are even in score after the second round AND are defending themselves accordingly without the risk of getting hurt, they can go a 3rd round as a tie breaker
This is a basic scorecard that can help the judge in scoring the target areas and educate the athletes on which techniques each other performed well
